Common uses

MonitorWare Agent can be used in a multitude of ways, to perform well in many different environments, serving many different needs. This chapter describes some typical use cases. It includes pointers, what to set up and also, what can be achieved. This chapter provides an overview of the scenario. Detailed setup and configuration instructions can be found in the "Step-by-Step guides".

This chapter is organized into four main use cases, which are:

• Analysis
• Event Archival
• Alerting
• Solving Problems

Besides these main benefits, there are also some other scenarios, like relaying event data. They are also described.

While reading through the scenarios, please keep in mind that MonitorWare Agent is extremely flexible. A single instance on a single machine can be configured to perform all actions and functions concurrently. They are grouped here for easier lookup, but this in no way implies that the Agent can do only one thing or the other.
